6.12. Create a One-Click Restart Shortcut

If you find that you often need to restart your computer, you can configure Windows 7 with a shortcut that enables you to restart your system with just a single mouse click.

If you have a program that you use regularly, you can access the program more quickly by creating a shortcut. A shortcut is a special file that points to a program. When you launch the shortcut, Windows 7 automatically loads that program.

In particular, Windows 7 has a command that you can run to restart your computer, and you can create a shortcut for that command. Running the shortcut is a bit faster than the standard method for restarting Windows 7, which requires clicking Start, clicking the arrow beside the Shut Down command, ...
