6.10. Configure AutoPlay Actions

You can customize Windows 7 to perform a specific action whenever you insert a particular type of media, such as an audio CD.

When you insert some types of media into your computer, you usually see a dialog box that gives you a list of actions you can perform on that media. For example, if you insert an audio CD, you have the choice of playing the CD in Windows Media Player, ripping the songs from the CD to Windows Media Player, playing the CD in Media Center, and so on.

This is called AutoPlay and it works for the following media types: audio CDs, DVD movies, enhanced audio CDs and DVDs, software and games, pictures, video files, audio files, blank CDs, DVDs, and BDs (Blu-ray discs), Blu-ray movies, audio DVDs, ...
