2.11. Configure a Device Using Device Stage

You can use Windows 7's new Device Stage feature to configure device settings, as well as run common device tasks.

In previous versions of Windows, interacting with a device usually meant interacting with several different Windows features. For a document scanner, for example, you might use Windows Fax and Scan to run a scan, Device Manager to change the scanner's properties, and perhaps a proprietary program to configure features such as scan profiles.

Windows 7 aims to change all that by offering a single location where you can interact with a device. This location is called Device Stage and, depending on the device, you can use it to run device tasks, configure device properties, set up device features, ...
