5.7. Adjust Rip Settings
Windows Media Player gives you lots of control over the copying — or ripping — of tracks from an audio CD by enabling you to select a format and a bit rate.
The format is the audio file type you want to use to store the ripped tracks on your computer. You have five choices:
The Windows Media Audio format compresses audio by removing extraneous sounds not normally detected by the human ear.
The Windows Media Audio (variable bit rate) format changes the compression depending on the audio data: If the data is more complex, it uses less compression to keep the quality high.
