3.7. Add a Password to Your User Account

You can configure your Windows 7 user account with a password. Another person cannot log on to your account unless he or she knows the password.

If your user account does not have a password, then your Windows 7 system is not very secure. If you have no other accounts on your system and your account has no password, you are taken directly to the Windows 7 desktop. That may be convenient not only for you, but also for a system snoop who starts your machine while you are not around. With full access to the system, the snoop can install a virus, a Trojan horse — a program that enables the hacker to control your computer from the Internet — or a program that monitors your keystrokes to grab your passwords. ...
