A power-saving feature primarily used for laptops. It takes the entire contents of memory and stores them on the hard drive. When the data is stored on the hard drive, the system will completely power down and not use any power. When the system is turned back on, it retrieves the data from the hard drive and returns the system to the condition it was in before it powered down.

host cache

One of the methods of name resolution. When a name is resolved by DNS, the result is placed in the host cache (also called the DNS cache). The host cache also includes the contents of the Hosts file. You can view the host cache with the following command: IPconfig /displaydns.
