Name
hardware profile
Synopsis
Settings that specify which devices are enabled or disabled when your computer starts up.
Description
Hardware profiles were used particularly for laptop installations of Windows NT Workstation where you could define one profile for mobile use and another for docked use. With Windows 2000 Server’s support for Plug and Play, creating hardware profiles is generally not needed since the laptop can automatically detect whether it is docked and enable or disable devices accordingly. For information on how to create hardware profiles, see hardware.
