Configuring NWLink
First you need to access the NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport Protocol property sheet for your computer:
Start → Settings → Network and Dial-up Connections → select a local-area connection → Properties → select NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport Protocol → Properties |
Now use the property sheet to make various changes to your NWLink configuration.
Assigning an Internal Network Number
You can generally leave the internal network number set to its default value of 00000000 unless:
You have installed the optional File and Print Services for NetWare product and either have multiple frame types configured for a single network adapter or have NWLink bound to multiple network adapters in your machine.
You have an application such as Microsoft SQL Server that is configured to use NetWare’s Service Advertising Protocol (SAP) with NWLink.
Configuring the Frame Type and Network Number
If Auto frame type detection is selected, Windows 2000 listens and sets the frame type and network number to the one used on the local network segment.
