Chapter 19. Scripting with Active Directory

Active Directory is, in many forms, a distributed database. It has a schema. It has data values. It is replicated throughout your organization for use by administrators, end users, and applications.

With Active Directory, the Windows family of products is moving into a larger role within organizations. This new role provides Information Technology (IT) staffs with the ability to extend management and services to the entire enterprise through a single comprehensive view. Improved management of the enterprise is available through Active Directory, and scripts are efficient tools for managing the environment.
