Administrative Models for Windows 2000 Using Active Directory

Active Directory provides the mechanism for administering a large enterprise and establishes unique administrative requirements throughout the organization. This section does not consider the potential complexity that is created by multiple administrative models, but it does review the capability for multiple administrative models.

The capability to establish multiple contexts for administration is inherent in the design of Active Directory. By establishing a variety of OUs, an organization can create the group policies, security groups, and administrative tools to permit specific administrative capabilities.
