Summary

Scoping your project is an important step in setting expectations for your Active Directory implementation. By properly identifying the scope of your effort, you are able to communicate with your organization's sponsors about the real effort and expected results for Phase 1.

The scoping effort also provides a foundation for developing an early roadmap for the project. There are many components in developing a scope and each one is important; however, the most important component is your staff.

Involve your staff early to develop a consensus on what the real undertaking is going to be. This can help to prevent resistance or surprises later.
