8.1. The Possibilities
If you have never programmed with a network operating system before, you may have trouble imagining what is possible, or why network programming is so exciting and versatile. The following list describes five different programs and shows how each makes use of the network.
A multi-player game: Say that you want to create a multi-player game that runs on a network. For example, you might create a flight simulator that lets several people fly separate airplanes and have dogfights with one another.
