LOCATION-BASED DATA EXPLOSION

Another trend affecting the future of analytics is the rapid proliferation of location-based data. For example, most of the several billion cell phones in world have GPS tracking devices that have the potential to leave a continuous location data trail. Furthermore, many of the hundreds of millions of mobile apps include some type of location-based tracking. Also, stores are experimenting with location-aware services that enable retailers to communicate with or serve offers to users in a specific location. As businesses and consumers begin to leverage location-based data in greater numbers, analytics will need to cope with how to store, sort, analyze, and use these data for the benefit of organizations.
