Preface:Depth Follows Breadth

For me, photography is like a huge imaginary building with an endless number of rooms, corridors, halls, cellars, and lofts. Every time I think I have finally nailed it, another door opens and I discover a previously unknown place to explore.

I learn new things instinctively and I rarely start by using a book. I much prefer to take a hands-on approach and dive straight in. I try out every aspect of a new idea and, while I do read up on things too, I understand things much better if I can see and touch them.
