We shoot images in order to have an effect on the viewer, to tell stories, or to generate emotion. We have a whole arsenal of tools to help us achieve this and the content of our pictures is at the top of the list. For example, grandparents will always like a photo of their grandchildren, even if little care was taken while composing and shooting it.

Alongside the content of an image, its composition has a powerful effect on the viewer, too. Careful placement of objects within the frame helps to influence what the viewer sees as important and underscores the photo’s message.
