VICKIE'S FUSION

My whole life has been about fusing with women, formally and informally. The rush of pure energy that comes from fusion has helped me reach levels of success I didn't know were possible. At the office, we'll stop in the hall, chat for a moment, an idea will spark and we'll move into the conference room for a crash brainstorm, or just heat up the hallway with the fire of our visions. I also fuse with my personal women friends, often spontaneously when one of us calls the other and we have a good long chat.

But the fusion that occurred from bringing together a group of phenomenal women gave me a wake-up call to what I'd been missing in my life. It jolted me back to high school, hanging out with my best girlfriends, confiding our desires and boohooing over the tragedy du jour. I realized how much I missed that intimacy.

It also brought home to me how much I miss my mom. After the age of 23, I missed out on her wonderful guidance and encouragement. And she missed my important adult milestones—getting married, starting my business, being featured in the New York Times, breaking $16 million and creating this book. I wish she could have known Tom and all the other cool people in my life. My legacy to her is seeing the world she always yearned to see. I know she's happy that I'm living every moment and using the tools she gave me to help other women live their every moment.
