Stocks are awesome! I love investing in companies and watching them as they grow and develop into industry leaders. And watching a catastrophic failure is pretty interesting, too. The stock market is fascinating and complex, and many people spend their entire lives trying to understand it. I don't try to play the game or understand it; I just observe.
But, whenever I see a stock that I think has promise, I like to keep an eye on it. I could watch the stocks through a web service or turn on the TV, but that's not fast enough for me. I like to get my information how, where, and when I want it.
