Chapter Summary

In this chapter, we've looked at ways of processing XML, HTML, and other structured text. It's particularly important to be able to work with XML, because it is used by so many different kinds of applications and APIs. Many of the projects explored in the rest of this book use XML for configuration files and data exchange formats. Knowing how to extract data and manipulate XML documents is an essential part of working with these APIs. In the next chapter, we will discuss the development of next-generation web applications built on semantic relationships between logical entities: a web of concepts.
