not enough thinking

There’s a disease sweeping cities throughout the world.

I call it Obsessive Do-itis. An absolute obsession with doing, doing, doing, rather than thinking, thinking, thinking. Running around frantically trying to squeeze in more meetings, more e-mails, and more activities into our ever-longer days.

It’s reached ridiculous proportions. I was having coffee with a friend of mine who until recently ran the creative department of one of New York’s biggest advertising agencies. He said that many days his diary would be completely full with meetings from 8 AM until 8 PM. And what did he do at 8 PM after all the meetings were over? He began his own work for the day.

It’s crazy. It’s also not productive. We are all kidding ourselves ...
