PSYCHOANALYTIC SUBJECTS

An underlying theme of the entirety of this work is the idea of psychic presences.1 The idea of a psychic presence borrows heavily from the olden schools of vitalism and animism and yet seems to convey the emotional immediacy of the presence of the essence or being of something or someone. In the past the words ghost, spirit, or soul were used, but those designations are too suggestive of spirituality and the supernatural and thereby elude what I am trying to convey.
