Your ability to communicate with your advisor is key to your own financial success. It is important that you understand how you and your advisor will best communicate: in person, via the telephone, through email, by traditional mail, or a combination of these mediums. As an advisor, I find email is a great way to communicate and maintain documentation of action items although investment orders cannot be given over email or voicemail and not all of my clients even have email. I also find email to be impersonal at times, and I like to talk with clients on the telephone because I can get more of a sense of their moods and how they are doing.
