While we appear to be moving in the direction of a paperless society, printing is unlikely to disappear completely. Printed documents have a couple things electronic documents don’t: portability and tactile quality. Handheld devices such as smartphones and tablets are starting to make a dent in the portability claims of paper, but nothing yet replicates the feel of paper.
