TRIANGLE OF VICTIMIZATION

Once you’re satisfied that your recruit is honest, hard-working, outgoing enough to talk to strangers and ask for a sale, committed to working for your company, and has a mindset of personal accountability, you’ve only just begun. You’ll need to manage your own expectations of even the most promising young talent you recruit into your firm.

The key is to start slow. Make your expectations clear, and make them reasonable. A new associate can be overwhelmed during the first few days at a new job. Give him or her an opportunity to start with a small project that offers a good chance for success. That small win ...
