About the Interviewees

John Barnes

John Barnes is a General Manager for a large manufacturing site in the South of England.

During a 20-year career in manufacturing, he has always managed people in corporate organizations with cross-cultural communications where making sense of the environment around him and his staff is key to motivating them to deliver successful results. His first role was managing a team of forklift drivers and he now has over 300 staff to consider. He says the two roles are quite similar, "It's just that there are now 300 people ready to provide me with expert advice on where I can improve!"

Paul Currah

Paul Currah is passionate about spending money, especially when it's not his own; that's why he's been in purchasing for 20 years. Having recently moved from a pharmaceutical giant to a medium-sized private company, he finds he now has fewer colleagues today than he had managers before!

Paul would love to be known for getting the best out of people, but recognizes that that requires him to get the best out of himself too. Of this challenge he says, "The quest continues!"

Jane Ginnever is Group HR Manager for a group of integrated property services companies operating throughout England and currently employing almost 400 people. It has been highly placed in the Fast Track 100 for the last 3 years.
