THE PLAN

Visualizing mountains is all very well, but unless mountaineering is our desired achievement it’s no more than a metaphor. We need to keep things real, and that requires a focus on process – especially with respect to our immediate plans. Indeed, endeavour and process are the two key ingredients for achievement, with one entirely dependent on the other. Hard work without a thought-through plan of execution will waste time and destroy resolve. Meanwhile, all plans and no action – well, that’s just dreaming.

My own world of PR offers a potentially useful structure when it comes to planning our immediate actions – not least because our PR projects are guided by a Campaign Plan, which details action points and milestones for the year ...
