Summary

In this chapter we explored the reasons why the Distributed Replay tool is a useful addition to the SQL Server DBA and developer's toolkit. We walked through the steps required to install and configure it, and highlighted some of the potential problems you may encounter. Then we looked at how to use it by creating and replaying a trace file. It is worth becoming familiar with Distributed Replay so you can reap the benefits in your work. We think it is a great addition to SQL Server.

In the final chapter, we will look at SQL Azure and how it may affect you as a developer or DBA. We will also take a look at big data and learn about something that Microsoft are about to release on the Windows platform, namely, Hadoop.
