Chapter 8. AlwaysOn

SQL Server 2012 has a multitude of new administrative features. Some of these features, such as AlwaysOn, could have an entire book devoted solely to them. We are not going to go through a full tutorial here, but instead we will take a look at the basics, while throwing in a few tips to give you a flavor of what AlwaysOn involves.

It should be noted that AlwaysOn is very much a marketing term, which simply encompasses availability groups and clustering. It seems to be a common misconception that availability groups have replaced SQL Server mirroring, but they have not.
