William Donaldson

FORMER CHAIRMAN, SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE COMMISSION

William Donaldson served from 2003 to 2005 as the twenty-seventh chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, the chief regulator of America’s securities markets and chief enforcer of the nation’s securities laws. His tenure marked the greatest period of activity since the agency’s founding in 1934.

Before joining the SEC, Donaldson was chairman, president, and chief executive officer of Aetna, Inc., and before that he served as chairman and chief executive of the New York Stock Exchange.
