In this approach, I chose to use both Curves and Hue/Saturation adjustment layers, because neither is as finely tunable as I would like it to be. But between the two, you can mix the colors the way you want them, and by lowering the opacity, you can get the intensity you want. Remember, RGB isn’t a color; it’s a formula for mixing color. As you have learned in previous chapters, gray is a color in the RGB world. Even shadows that appear to be gray are anything but. Therefore, when you create an image that replicates the reality of a traditionally printed black-and-white print, the grays and blacks have to be assigned a color and tone.
