Creating a Single Image

Step 1: Assembling the Base Image

As you have done in the previous chapters, you are going to approach the creation of this image going from global to granular. The following steps will lead you through how I removed everything that was not my vision from the Cades Cove flower images, so I could achieve my previsualized composition.

Open these four files:

smoky DLWS0655BASE.tif

smoky DLWS0653 FRONT FLOWER.tif

smoky DLWS0654PART1.tif

smoky DLWS0656DARK.tif

Starting with the file smoky DLWS0653 FRONT FLOWER, click on the icon of the image in the Layers palette. Hold down the Shift key as you drag the image to the destination file, which in this case will be smoky DLWS0655BASE (Figure 3.9a). Do the same with smoky DLWS0654PART1 ...
