Chapter 22. WebSphere sample programs

WebSphere V3.5 now ships with a full suite of samples that offer the WebSphere administrator a starting point upon which to build. For new administrators, deploying the samples will provide familiarization with the necessary configuration steps, and a template or topology hierarchy against which custom application servers and associated elements can be compared.

These samples cover JSPs, servlets, and JavaBeans and are available on all platforms. WebSphere Advanced Edition, except when deployed on Linux, offers an additional set of EJB samples. Finally, WebSphere V3.5 PTF 2 extends sample support beyond the original DB2 prerequisite, to Oracle and Sybase databases.
