15.3. What’s new in WebSphere V3.5 security

The underlying WebSphere security architecture and model are virtually unchanged from V3.02. However, there have been some enhancements in V3.5 that are of interest:

  • Performance has been improved from the previous version. In a development benchmark, application performance was degraded only 10%-12% with security enabled. While this is only a single data point and results will certainly vary depending on application characteristics and security specifications, it does give evidence that security overhead has been reduced.
