Both WebSphere Standard and Advanced are based on and support key open-industry standards such as HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP), HyperText Markup Language (HTML), eXtensible Markup Language (XML), Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), Java, JavaBeans, Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA), Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), and most importantly the following Enterprise Java APIs:
