9.13 WEB SERVICES ENDNOTE

It took nearly 100 years for the telecom industry to establish a standardized, interoperable network. It generally takes an enormous amount of time for a technology (or a set of technologies) to converge to any standards. Given the ubiquitous nature of the web, it is expected to take a long time for standardization to occur and conform to standards. However, in this context of standards, and interoperability, there are two levels which can be talked about—one is within the web community itself and the other level is across business.

Web services pave the way to standardize within the web community. This in turn can be leveraged by business to converge on business standards.
