6.3 A BRIEF HISTORY AND BACKGROUND
Led by Oracle (Sun), the JSP has grown to be a standard, endorsed by industry leaders. It is a key component of the java EE. As of EE6, JSP 2.2 is in use, along with expression Language 2.2 and Standard Tag Library (STL) 1.2. It is closely tied to the Servlet (2.5) specifications since a JSP in internally transformed into a Servlet. It is recommended that the reader consult the latest specification of the mentioned technologies under Java EE.
