2.3 HTML TAGS
HTML is text written in the form of XML tags. Tags appear in pairs with a start-tag and an end-tag. A start-tag or an end-tag begins with the less-than character (<) and ends with the greater-than character (>). Looking at tags does not give a sense of a true programming language—they are rather directives that instruct the browser. Tags are understood by the browser and the directives point at how a piece of text is to be displayed.
