9.2. Accessing a Service Inside a Firewall

E-Speak provides two architectures to allow access to a service inside a firewall from a client inside another firewall. The firewall gateway and the connector scenario both achieve this goal.

The e-Speak firewall gateway is a software gateway. It mediates access to e-Speak services deployed behind a firewall from external clients (either in the public Internet or behind a different firewall). It does so by authenticating and authorizing access from the external clients using Session Layer Security (SLS) certificates.

The second architectural option is the connector scenario. The example included in this chapter demonstrates use of the connector scenario.
