In Chapter 1, we built the foundations of web services and how web services make the Web work for you. Web service concepts are at the heart of the e-Speak framework. E-Speak is a reference implementation of the service-centric computing vision. In this chapter, we discuss how the e-Speak architecture enables service-centric computing and ecosystem creation.

Figure 1.6 describes the service lifecycle. This lifecycle considered the stages a service goes through in its lifetime. Let’s consider a different time span and a narrower scope of simply creating and using a service. The steps involved in that are shown in Figure 2.1.
