Specialized Image Collections
Specialized image collections generally have all their images maintained on one site. This is important for a few reasons: 1) pages will not expire as they might for pages with images gathered from all over the Web, 2) images can be indexed in more elaborate ways, as they and their information are maintained on one site, and 3) image collections can be confirmed as family-friendly since all the images are in one place and can be reviewed, instead of coming from all over the Web. (Of course, there is no guarantee that such a collection will be family-friendly, since there might be tens of thousands of images and nobody to review them.)
