A record

A record type in the DNS protocol used by a DNS server to provide the IP address of the host with a particular domain name.

anycast

A request distribution mechanism where request redirection to a server replica is performed by routers. The principal idea behind anycast is that multiple hosts use a single IP address called an anycast IP address in addition to their individual IP address. Hosts advertise both the anycast IP addresses and their individual IP addresses to their routers, which advertise them to their neighbor routers in a normal manner.
