18.3. Content Distribution

In addition to distributing requests between CDI partners, it is also necessary to distribute the content to CDN servers and forward proxies which will eventually serve it. At a minimum, this requires the transfer of information about the content that allows partners to find the origin servers for the given content. This problem has already been discussed in Section 15.3 in the context of CDNs. However, in the context of CDI, it becomes necessary to distribute this information in a globally understood format. Invalidation of objects stored at partner proxies and CDN servers is another example of information that must be exchanged between CDI participants. Many of the mechanisms introduced in Sections 10.2 and 15.7
