17.1. Content Filtering

Like it or not, content filtering (or, as some put it, censoring) is going to be a part of Internet practices. Examples of benign uses of this technology include companies that are increasingly limiting the kind of information their workers can access and parents who are concerned with the content accessible to their children.

Many approaches to content filtering have been proposed. Some use automatic content classification, for example, a CYBERsitter filtering product or Virtual Control Agent component of SuperScout Web filter.
