2. The Reuse Trinity

In this chapter, we take a close look at each of the three parts of the reuse so that, throughout the rest of the book, you can better see how design patterns, components, and interaction design frameworks relate to each other and work together.

The Reuse Trinity didn’t come easily, nor did it develop in an entirely logical order. The notion of patterns began way back with Christopher Alexander’s book in 1977, and has since been propagated by pattern advocates such as Luke Wroblewski, Bill Scott, Martijn van Welie, Teresa Neil, Christian Crumlish, Jenifer Tidwell, and many other industry experts whose hard work has brought patterns to the forefront of web design practices.
