Summary

As we have seen in this chapter, client-side timers can be used for a number of practical purposes, especially targeted at presentation, and variable resetting. All the timer events we have studied in this chapter originate from the WAP device and affect the WAP devices operation and memory. Chapter 11, "Receiving Notifications," explains alerts and notifications. In effect, alerts and notifications are analogous to timers as they all seek to alter information and presentation on the WAP device. Technologically, alerts and notifications originate from a server and effect the WAP device's operation. We will cover this in greater depth in the next chapter.
