Summary

This chapter covered Active Server Pages and began with a review of the history behind ASPs, looking at the evolution of the Web as a basis for this information. ASPs are a server-side technology. In other words, their functionality occurs on a Web server, not on the client (in our case, not on the WAP device).

The chapter then discussed configuring a Web server test environment. The test environment created is one that resides on your PC, along with all the other WAP development tools. This chapter also discussed using Microsoft’s Personal Web Server, a tool that’s available for free download from the Microsoft Web site.
