NOTES ON THE RESEARCH

Although I have included stories and examples from women all over the world in this book, the women who participated in the interviews and surveys were part of a select group conforming to the research design for my doctoral dissertation. The scope was limited to women holding executive and managerial positions in U.S. corporations to maintain consistency of variables. Ten women were randomly chosen to be interviewed from a pool of seventy-five who matched the profile described below. Since the study, I have found many female managers, executives, entrepreneurs, and political leaders worldwide who also match the profile.
