Modifying the Atmosphere

Having some nice toon shaders to add to your objects is great, but unless you are going to build a scene that has a photorealistic background with toon-like objects populating that scene, you need to make your ground and atmosphere fit with the cartoon theme. Here’s how to do that.

I’ll start with the easiest first.

  1. Select the Ground plane and go into the Material Editor.

  2. Open the Material Selector window and choose Basic > Green Plastic.

  3. Go to the Highlights tab and turn highlights off. Now you have a cartoon-like Ground plane, just like in Figure 11.8.
