A Leaf by Any Other Name

You have two considerations when creating new foliage—should the materials use actual photographs, or can you get away with something that is drawn? If you’re a good enough artist, you can probably do the latter. If you’re not, then photographs are what you’re going to want to use.

The first thing you need to do is have an image editor like Adobe Photoshop. As I have stated in other chapters, I am not going to delve into how to use these programs. Suffice it to say that the images in the Chapter 8 folder on the DVD contain JPEG files that were created in Photoshop. You can study those to see how the files were put together.
