7.8. VRRP Notifications

There are two traps or notifications defined for VRRP:

  1. backup to master transition trap.

  2. Authentication failure trap.

Backup to master trap, vrrpTrapNewMaster, carries the vrrpOperMasterIpAddr to the recipients. This trap indicates that the identified router transitioned from backup to master state. Note that there is no trap defined for other state transitions.

Authentication failure trap, vrrpTrapAuthFailure, indicates that the identified router received a packet with an authentication error. It carries the IP address of the inbound, that of the delinquent VRRP packet (vrrpTrapPacketSrc) and the type of the failure: vrrpTrapAuthErrorType. The legitimate values for this type are invalidAuthType, authTypeMismatch, authFailure. ...
