F.2. Sequence Diagrams

Object with lifeline—This symbol represents an entity (an object in the case of an object-oriented system) that interacts with other objects. The vertical dotted line corresponds to the time flow in the life cycle of the object. The timing of different messages, sent or received, is represented in relation to the lifeline. We represent, for example, the VRRP routers participating in a scenario as objects with lifelines. The relative position on the lifelines indicates when an advertisement or ARP request is dispatched.
